Post Conversation - Next Steps

In this module, we’ll provide guidance on how to capture and track actions coming out of your engagement conversations.

In the second module, we introduced effective listening strategies and tips for having a productive discussion. In this module, we’ll provide guidance on how to capture/track actions and steps to take post-engagement conversation with both employee and team.

Next steps - creating a plan

Create a plan or short list of actions both manager and employee will work on together to address the ideas discussed.

Follow up

Take action
  • By honoring any follow up actions you have agreed to, you will build trust with your employees. They will see their development is a priority for you.
  • Frequent, ongoing dialogue indicates genuine commitment to your employee’s development; additionally, iterative conversations allow employees to layer awareness, insights, and action more naturally.
  • Once all engagement conversations are complete, managers should gather themes and share with their team either in a staff meeting or via email. The manager should also ask themselves: How do these findings compare to Connections results? Are there systemic issues that should be addressed?
